VIP Tables and Frank Bogert
Memorial Scholarship funding:

The following is a link to a letter detailing how to reserve a table in the 2011 Rodeo VIP Pavilion, and at the same time help fund the Frank Bogert Memorial Scholarship.
Donna Higueras is the Chairperson for the Scholarship Committee. We need your commitment by June 30 if possible.

Western Expo:
Plans are in development to expand the overall event to include a Western Expo this year, with over 50 vendors displaying the latest in Western and American Indian art, interiors, fashion and jewelry, most likely in the Renaissance ballroom adjacent to the WestFest.

A related show will specialize in antiques, memorabilia and collectibles of all kinds. They are eyeing the Convention Center to take advantage of our traffic and demographics during the same time period.
These shows will both open on Thursday, March 24, a day prior to Westfest.

Western Week:
In the week leading up to our rodeo weekend, we are planning several community-wide activities designed to raise awareness and have as many participate as possible. Trail rides out of Smoke Tree Stables, a golf tournament, fundraising BBQs and other activities are on the drawing boards. We need YOUR participation on a volunteer committee to put these ambitious plans into effect.

Committees Now Online:

You can now access all our committees through our comprehensive website.
Click on Rodeo, WestFest or Spur of the Moment to see all the committees listed. Some already have a chairperson; others need a leader; but they ALL need your participation! Your committee can be as informal as you wish, and the idea is to have some fun with it. It's a great way to make sure your ideas are implemented and the rodeo becomes more successful every year.
Example:
We are looking for a committee head to chair our golf tournament, "Spikes & Spurs," during Western Week at Indian Canyon Golf Course. Will it be a big fundraiser, a comfortable way to relax after the trail ride, or just a good excuse to play the gorgeous Indian Canyon courses? That will be up to the Golf Tournament Committee.

Western Film Festival:

We are looking for ideas on how to mount an appropriate series of classic Westerns around Palm Springs during Western Week. An example would be a Gene Autry revival in which several of his best films would be shown, with experts discussing the films between showings.

Frank Bogert Memorial Scholarship - College of the Desert

The paperwork has been submitted and the Frank Bogert Memorial Scholarship to College of the Desert is becoming a full-blown reality.

This fall, a student will receive the first $1,000 toward 2 semesters, and a permanent endowment will be funded through Summer sales of VIP tables for the rodeo in March.

The Scholarship Committee Chairperson is Donna Higueras, who many of you know as one of Mayor Bogert's daughters. Donna is already planning ways to raise $25,000 to fund the scholarship.

Some of the events we are looking at will take place during Western Week and help fund the scholarship. Stay tuned for more.
